Netflix Top 10 Today

With a library of countless movies, Netflix is a great place to watch your favorite flicks at your convenience. Each week, the streaming service releases its list of trending titles for subscribers to check out.

This week, franchise movies have taken the lead, but there are a few other shows and movies worth checking out. Here are the top 10 most-watched films and TV shows on Netflix today.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

In a dystopian future, the Capitol controls twelve outlying districts with an iron fist. Children from each section are forced to fight to the death in the Hunger Games.

Mockingjay Part 1 is the penultimate installment of Suzanne Collins’s best-selling trilogy. It tells of the repercussions of Katniss’ victory in the Quarter Quell. She symbolizes rebellion against President Snow, who rules Panem from the Capitol.

The Hangover Part 2

After two years, the gang reunites for another drunken debauchery-filled adventure. This time they travel to Thailand for Stu’s wedding, a destination that’s more than just a change in scenery.

Thankfully, director Todd Phillips doesn’t compromise on the comedy or the raunch. He tries to make it more than just a carbon copy of the original.

Turbo

A super-fast snail named Turbo is the protagonist of this DreamWorks Animation film. He has a massive obsession with racing, but his dreams are only possible once he’s given the power of super speed.

This film is a little oddball, but it’s worth a watch. It’s a great example of how the power of imagination can create something that isn’t quite what it seems.

The film follows Turbo, a garden snail who has an unusual dream of becoming the world’s best racer. He finds a way to return to action when his shell is damaged.

The Strays

A psychological thriller, The Strays is an intriguing British film that is getting a lot of buzz. It’s being compared to Jordan Peele’s Get Out and Funny Games, and it has a lot to say, but at times it feels too much like a parody.

Neve (Ashley Madekwe) lives a privileged life in a wealthy suburb, but her perfect existence is turned upside down when her troubled past returns to haunt her. She’s a light-skinned Black woman who can “pass” as an upper-class white woman but refuses to hide her race.

We Have a Ghost

Based on a short story by Geoff Manaugh, We Have a Ghost follows the Presley family as they move into a new house that has been reported to be haunted. Kevin, the family’s youngest member, finds a ghost living in the attic and becomes friends with him.

While it doesn’t quite reach the heights of some of Christopher Landon’s earlier horror-comedies, We Have a Ghost is still a heartwarming, feel-good adventure. It’s a nostalgic, reflective tale of a family struggling to find its place in the world, bolstered by a superb cast and timely social media commentary.

Outer Banks

The Outer Banks have captivated Virginians with sun, sky, and sea for generations. It is a place that treasures its history and legends, and its rich diversity of stories and people have helped shape America.

Netflix’s original teen drama Outer Banks depicts the class divide between the Kooks and Pogues in Kildare, North Carolina. The show follows the friendship of four teenage Pogues: JJ (Rudy Pankow), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and John B. Routledge (Chase Stokes).

Triptych

The latest Netflix thriller, Triptych, has grabbed viewers’ attention this week. A true story, and stars Matie Perroni inspire it.

The show is based on the real-life story of Eddy Galland, David Kellman, and Bobby Shafran; triplets separated at birth.

The show also explores a social experiment. So, if you’re interested in learning more about the series and its inspiration, here are the most important things to know.

Perfect Match

Perfect Match is a unique spin on the dating competition genre that sends stars from Netflix’s hit reality shows into a villa searching for their first romance. Nick Lachey hosts the series and brings together players from Love Is Blind, Too Hot to Handle, and The Circle in a strategic and seductive dating competition.

While some couples eliminated at the end of season one are still together, others are no longer in a relationship. We checked in with Francesca Farago, whose connection with Dom Powers ended up being the show’s biggest drama, to find out where she is now.
