Rickey Smiley to perform as part of the Florida Blue Battle of the Bands

Despite the fact that Rickey Smiley will not be the headline act at the Florida Blue Battle of the Bands, the standup comic will be in town to host the aforementioned halftime show. For the uninitiated, Rickey is a self-proclaimed “maverick” who’s lived in Florida for more than two decades. His act will also be featured at other special events, notably the SWAC men’s basketball home games.
In the spirit of philanthropy, the good ol’ boy has rerouted all money raised through ticket sales to his family. The show is a pre-cursor to the main event, and features a slew of worthy performers, including the Florida A&M band and the Bethune-Cookman marching band.
Rickey and his crew will also be seen at the Honda Battle of the Bands, which will be held at Alabama State University on February 18, 2022. The event will feature one school from each conference, along with the usual suspects. Despite the lack of headliner names, the show will still be in the books for its tenth consecutive year.
Rickey Smiley is a true gent, and his act will likely be a hit. He will be accompanied by the aforementioned slew of worthy acts, whose members will be showcased at other special events, notably the SWAC home games. The best part is that it is free.
